Hockey is an amazing sport and played by amazing people and watched by amazing fans. However, sometimes something scary can happen and make us realize that it is just a sport and the health and well being of players is much more important.

Last night, one of those situations happened. Boston goalie prospect Malcolm Subban was struck in the throat by teammate Seth Griffith right in the throat during the warmup. He was rushed to hospital where he was examined. The Bruins released the following statement today regarding Subban's injury:

"Malcolm Subban was struck in the throat with a puck Saturday night during pregame warmups. He was transported to Maine Medical Center and was diagnosed with a fractured larynx. He stayed overnight at Maine Medical Center and was transported to Mass General Hospital on Sunday for further evaluation. He is in stable condition and will be sidelined indefinitely. The team will provide additional details when they become available."

It makes us think back to Trent McCleary who suffered the same type of injury. It ended his career and at the time it happened, there was fear for his life. This is not the same situation but it makes you realize just how serious this type of injury can be.

Everyone here at Hockey Feed sends out our thoughts and prayer to Malcolm and his family and wish him a safe and speedy recovery.
