Bruins send down Frederic after he got a suite for family for game in St. Louis on Saturday

Bummer…

The Boston Bruins are on a roll, riding a seven-game winning after a shootout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Wesnesday, but it didn’t stop head coach Bruce Cassidy from making changes to his roster prior to Saturday afternoon’s game against the Blues in St. Louis.

The Bruins made a weird transaction, sending down forward Trent Frederic to Providence and calling back Peter Cehlarik, who had just been sent down to the AHL the night before. So why not just send Frederic right away?

It built some false hope for Frederic, who is from the St. Louis area. According to Blues insider Andy Strickland of Fox Sports, the young Bruins forward had to inform his family and friends that he wouldn’t play in his hometown and ended up giving his 12 tickets in a personal suite he had purchased back to a Blues charity.

While it is a classy move, it remains heart-breaking for Frederic.  Let’s hope he gets another chance to play in front of his loved one in the near future. He however didn’t do much during his first NHL recall, going scoreless while firing 13 shots on net in 11 games. So the move does make sense…
