In case you missed it, the Boston Bruins announced yesterday that goaltender Tuukka Rask has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to January 19.

As a result they’ve recalled minor league goaltender Zane McIntyre from their AHL affiliate Providence Bruins on an emergency basis; Additionally the team has assigned rookies Ryan Donato and Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson to Providence and have called up forwards Peter Cehlarik and Trent Frederic.

The team has confirmed that Rask suffered a concussion during the first period of the team's game vs. New York Rangers on January 19 when he was run into by Rangers rookie Filip Chytil.

Rask has been placed on injured reserve, retroactive to the date of injury, and will not play in the team's game vs. the Winnipeg Jets tonight. Despite the apparent severity of Rask’s injury, head coach Bruce Cassidy does not think his starting goalie will miss much time.

As for the other moves, Donato and Forsbacka-Karlsson have nine points apiece and will surely benefit from some additional playing time in Providence. Cehlarik has had an outstanding season so far with Providence, putting up 29 points in 39 games, while Frederic, the Bruins’ first round pick in 2016 has a 10 goals and 17 points in 37 games during his first pro season with Providence.

Frederic is expected to line up between his childhood idol David Backes and Danton Heinen on the Bruins’ third line tonight.

Check out this awesome photo of a nine year old Frederic meeting Backes from his time with the St. Louis Blues.

Priceless.

Here’s how the rest of the B’s lineup shakes down for tonight’s game:
