Bruins Sweeney meets face to face with rival GM to discuss a blockbuster trade!

The Boston Bruins may be looking for a home run.

A report published this morning in the Boston Globe from Fluto Shinzawa has confirmed that Bruins general manager Don Sweeney did in fact meet face to face with Colorado Avalanche general manager Joke Sakic.

From Shinzawa:

For most of Sunday’s 18-minute second intermission, the Bruins general manager spoke to Colorado counterpart Joe Sakic in Section N24 of TD Garden’s press box. It’s unlikely they were comparing powder conditions between Boston and Denver.

According to Shinzawa the two men were discussing the possibility of a trade that would send Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo over to the Avalanche in exchnage for Colorado's captain, Gabriel Landeskog.

It's a monster trade rumor, one that could truly be described as a blockbuster trade deal, although there will likely be a large contingent of fans in Boston who are not happy with the prospect of Brandon Carlo being traded. Carlo is considered by many an untouchable, and in order to make this trade work the Bruins would have to give up more than just Carlo in order to make the salary works.

Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe believes that Jimmy Hayes could also be going back the other way in order to make the money fit for both sides.
