Bruins to go after Puljujarvi?!

Would you pull the trigger on this deal?

Jesse Puljujarvi has been pretty clear about what he wants out of the Edmonton Oilers: trade me or I will play in Europe.

When rumours first surfaced, Puljujarvi’s agent Markus Lehto said his client wanted to remain in the NHL, but has now hinted at a possible move overseas. While it sounds almost certain that Puljujarvi would greatly benefit from a change of scenery to jumpstart his career, many find it hard to see another NHL team wanting to acquire his services.

However, it has been mentioned by many pundits that the Boston Bruins should take a shot at the young forward.

The price for his services probably wouldn’t be too steep. One pundit, Brandon Share-Cohen of the Hockey Writers suggests that a return from Boston could include a third-line winger like Peter Cehlarik, who wouldn’t be too much to ask by the Oilers.

While the Bruins could hope that Puljujarvi benefits from a change of scenery, his statistics remain the same. He managed to score just four goals and posted five assists in 46 games with the Oilers this season, and didn’t do much better in the first two campaigns… In 139 games with the Oilers, Puljujarvi has 17 goals and 37 points.

After winning the award for Best GM last night, Bruce Cassidy could manage to get the best out of his deal and come out on top off Puljujarvi can come out of his funk and get a fresh start.
