Bruins to make a move after Sens-Pens game tonight!

The Boston Bruins are expected to jump on the trade market to boost their offense down the middle, and with the Feb. 25 trade deadline fast approaching, it only seems like a matter of time.

Possibly tonight or shortly after the Ottawa Senators vs. Pittsburgh Penguins seems more and more likely. Here is why.

TSN insider Darren Dreger had a Friday morning radio hit on Buffalo’s WGR 550 and explained how the Bruins will be heavily scouting the contest between the Sens and Pens tonight. While the Penguins made a huge transaction today, acquiring  centres Nick Bjugstad and Jared McCann from the Florida Panthers for pending free agents Derick Brassard and Riley Sheahan, along with a 2019 second-round pick and two fourth-round picks in June, it seems like the Bruins have their eyes on a specific player: Sens' Ryan Dzingel.

“Boston is definitely thinking that they’ve got to add up front. They’d like to add a center. If they can’t find that piece, whoever it might be - Matt Duchene, if he’s available - then maybe they look to a right-winger. I think they’ve got interest in Toffoli. My understanding is Boston is going to heavily scout tonight’s Senators-Pittsburgh game, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they make a play on Ryan Dzingel.
“But I don’t doubt for a second that the Boston Bruins are - look, it’s an arms race in the East, right. They’re a very good team, but for the most part they’re a one-line team. They need secondary scoring there as well to compete with Tampa Bay and to some degree Toronto.
“So I can’t imagine Don Sweeney won’t do something.”

Mark Stone, Matt Duchene and Dzingel are all set to become free agents this summer, and while the focus has been on Stone and Duchene, it seems more and more likely that Dzingel will be shipped out of Ottawa. With 38 points in 48 games, Dzingel is on pace to smash all of his career highs and could bring the boost Boston is seeking.

The Bruins might want to confirm their choice tonight, watch Dzingel in action one last time in the Senators' uniform before making a move for the veteran forward...

Stay tuned...
