This is a moment that may come back to haunt the Flyers.
In a desperate battle for a playoff position the Flyers were in need of a win on Thursday and thankfully they had the lowly Maple Leafs to take on, albeit less than 24 hours after a very tough loss to the Detroit Red Wings.The Flyers have not been able to capitalize on the opportunity however and it now looks like there is a very real chance that they will drop their second game, in regulation, in as many days.
While it's not over, this play roughly midway through the second period appeared to deflate the Flyers, and they now sit two goals behind the Leafs, and to make matters worse, Boston is currently up by three on Detroit. If both the Bruins and the Leafs maintain their lead the night would end with Boston and Detroit in playoff positions, and the Flyers on the outside looking in.
Flyers' forward Wayne Simmonds might be hearing about this one for a while.
