In case you missed it a couple weeks back, the Edmonton Oilers had plans to put open up a drive-in outdoor venue, which would include a beer garden, for fans to watch some playoff hockey.

From CBC:

Due to a litany of issues though the project never really got off the ground and an Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) spokesperson confirmed in late July that the plans had been cancelled. OEG’s Tim Shipton though did confirmed that the team was working on another strategy to involve fans safely. So far though, no plans have been made public.

Meanwhile in Toronto though, fans will be able to drive right up tight to the NHL’s “bubble”, order a beverage or two and watch the game on the big screen, all while NHL players take in the sights and sounds right next to them.

Check out this update from Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston who reports that fans will be able to take in the games at a modified “Jurassic Park” like setting usually reserved for Toronto Raptors NBA games. The kicker though is that NHL players themselves will be able to look down on the action as well.

Check it out:

Too funny… I can only imagine Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby or some other superstar lurking on their balcony and motioning down to their servants like some sort of medieval king. Not gonna lie... if I were an NHL player I would ABSOLUTELY chill on my balcony with a few cold beers, watch the game on the big screen and just take in the atmosphere from the fans below. How cool would that be?
