The Canadian federal government is reportedly set to waive the mandatory 14 day quarantine period for NHL players returning to Canada from the United States or from overseas. This according to an anonymous source and reported late last night by CTV News Canada.

This, of course, means that Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto are likely to be announced as the second "hub city" for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, along with Las Vegas, Nevada.

From CTV:

Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Marco Mendicino has issued a letter saying it's in the national interest to have a Canadian hub after the Public Health Agency of Canada and the public health authorities in Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver all gave their approval of the NHL's plan to keep players separate from the general public.
The move would allow the NHL to bypass the traditional 14-day quarantine for anyone entering Canada.
The NHL had to present a plan that met public health requirements for Canada before the government proceeded with the order.

Suffice it to say, this makes it a slam dunk, easy decision for the NHL to move playoff operations up to Canada given how well the nation has handled to COVID-19 breakout compared to the United States which recently passed the 100,000 death toll.
