The more the merrier, it seems...

The Calgary Flames kicked things off on Thursday, dealing with fitness testing and medicals in the official start to the 2019-20 training camp!

And there are quite a bit of new faces.

Not only did the Flames add several players via the trade and free agency markets this summer, notably Milan Lucic and Cam Talbot, but the Canadian club has also offer professional tryout agreements to six veteran players.

Calgary has invited forwards Devante Smith-Pelly, Zac Rinaldo, Alexandre Grenier and Tobias Rieder, as well as defensemen Eric Gryba and Andrew MacDonald on PTOs.

The Flames might have some holes to fill as they are still negotiating with restricted free agents Matthew Tkachuk and Andrew Mangiapane. The team is also dealing with issues on the back end as Juuso Valimaki’s off-season knee injury has put him on the shelf for six to nine months…

They clearly want as much options as possible to kick off the 2019-20 season on the right foot despite the many obstacles ahead.
