In case you missed it yesterday, Vancouver Canucks forward Micheal Ferland left his team's game against the Minnesota Wild early in the first period and did not return. Canucks fans, knowing Ferland's injury, assumed the worst when it was announced that Ferland wouldn't return for the duration of the game.

Today Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed the worst when he announced that Ferland will be out of the team's lineup indefinitely and is in fact leaving the Edmonton "bubble" for the duration of the Canucks' playoff run.

Check it out:

Hearing Micheal Ferland (VAN) will be leaving the bubble due to injury. The forward played just four shifts and 2:36 in Game 2 vs. MIN. No clarification on specifics.

That's not the kind of news that Canucks fans wanted to hear surely, but at the very least they can hold on to the hope that Ferland's injury is NOT concussion related. The 28 year old forward who signed with the Canucks last offseason has played just 14 regular season games and one full playoff game with the team due to injuries. Here's hoping that whatever ails him isn't too serious and that he can be ready to go for training camp (whenever that is).

Ferland agent Jason Davidson - “Mike is on his way home after a really solid camp and game 1, this is not what he wanted for himself and his teammates.”
