Canucks fans rip apart Linden and Benning in latest THN poll
Keystone Press

Every year The Hockey News runs an unofficial survey that ultimately serves to find a ranking for fans’ confidence in their favourite team’s management. Fans are asked to rank their team’s ability in six categories: roster building, cap management, drafting and developing, trading, free-agency and overall vision. In every case, the Vancouver Canucks ranked amongst the worst in the NHL.

First, their overall ranking, 30th overall, is exactly as it was a season ago, except this time with 31 teams in the NHL the group can technically say they’re not the worst anymore. In the Canucks strongest category, cap management, they ranked just 28th. The team ranked 29th in every other category

Not pretty. It’s also interesting to point out that the team’s most recent run of “fan friendly” moves like acquiring Jonathan Dahlen, Nikolai Goldobin and signing “youngish” veterans like Sam Gagner and Michael Del Zotto have had little impact on fan’s perception that Canucks GM Jim Benning and president Trevor Linden don’t have a plan moving forward. What do you think Canucks fans? Do you still have faith in the team? Or, are you more inclined to believe with the results of this survey?
