Earlier this week Vancouver Canucks fans went absolutely BANANAS online when the team’s in-house DJ elected to play “Chelsea Dagger” by The Fratellis over the Rogers Arena loudspeakers in a game against the Los Angeles Kings. Why is this such a big deal, you might ask?

Well, the song is something of a nightmare inducing experience for Canucks fans, as it’s mostly known for being the Chicago Blackhawks’ goal horn. Of course, the Canucks and the Blackhawks had a pretty strong rivalry back in the day, meeting three times in the Stanley Cup Playoffs from 2009 to 2011. The Blackhawks won two of those series’ and convincing fashion and nearly staged an incredible comeback in the 3rd series, with the Canucks eking out an OT victory in Game 7 after being up 3 games to none in the series.

For a refresher of just what “Chelsea Dagger” sounds like at the United Centre, give this a listen:

Good luck getting that out of your heard, Canucks fans.

Yeah… that’s a big “No No” if you’re a Canucks DJ. What’s next? “Shipping up to Boston” by The Dropkick Murphy?

Well, the backlash on Twitter got to be so strong that Canucks owner Franceso Aquilini was forced to speak out.

By the way, playing "Chelsea Dagger" at the game last night was an innocent mistake on the part of someone whose memory doesn't go back that far. Bugged me, too. It won't happen again!

That didn’t seem to satisfy fans and now it looks like the unfortunate DJ is now without a job, this according to TSN 1040 host Blake Price.

Don't shoot the messenger, but just heard there will be a new DJ in the house for tonight's Canucks game..

Ouch… a bit harsh, no? Then again, if it’s your job to play music FOR Canucks fans, you should probably know what songs NOT to play.

UPDATE: False alarm, Canucks fans! It seems Price has been the victim of some Fake News.

Doubling back.  Canucks have reached out and denied this is the case.   And once again, I kinda can't believe this is a story.   Then again, we all saw that last game, what else we gonna talk about?
