Canucks forced to make a number of changes to the line up.

With four losses in a row and a 2-8-0 record in their last ten games, things can’t possibly get much worse right now for the Vancouver Canucks. Their two key offseason acquisitions Erik Gudbranson and Loui Eriksson have both under-performed and underwhelmed and, in fact, both are currently out of the lineup. The team announced this morning that Eriksson will not travel with the team for their final road trip, opting to remain in Vancouver for treatment.

Goaltender Jacob Markstrom has also been shut down for the season with an injury, which will necessitate career minor-leaguer Richard Bachman to make at least one more start for the team this season.

With the San Jose Sharks up next on the schedule for the Canucks it’s expected than Nikolay Goldobin will slot into the team’s lineup to take on his former team. It’ll be the young Russian’s first game against the team that traded him to Vancouver along with a draft pick for veteran forward Jannik Hansen. It was also speculated that defenceman Luca Sbisa may miss the game against the Sharks with an undisclosed injury, but head coach Willie Desjardins confirmed that Sbisa missed practice for “maintenance” and should be good to go Tuesday in San Jose.
