The Vancouver Canucks have just announced that star forward Brock Boeser been placed in concussion protocol. He isn’t the only one; defenseman Oscar Fantenberg has also been placed under the same protocol.

Boeser was hit from behind into the boards on Monday night during his second game of the preseason against the Ottawa Senators by forward Chris Tierney, who was assessed a boarding penalty on the play, late in the third period.

Head coach Travis Green noted that “Brock was a bit surprised by the hit.”

Boeser, who remained in the contest, put up three assists in the 6-4 victory. Neither Boeser, nor Fantenberg, who also took a heavy hit during the Ottawa game, was at practice on Tuesday.

It remains to be seen how long both players will be out of action. The Canucks face the Senators next on Wednesday night in Vancouver.
