Canucks President makes shocking comments about the 2017 NHL Draft!

Both Nico Hischier and Nolan Patrick had tremendous performances in their last junior seasons, which made it extremely hard to predict who the New Jersey Devils were going to select with the first overall pick in this year's NHL draft. But even though they were the two front-runners, it seems that not every general manager had them ranked first on their list.

In an interview with TSN1040 host Matthew Sekeres, Vancouver Canucks president Trevor Linden made a pretty surprising comment:

Sekeres added the first name that came to his mind was Cale Makar, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound defenseman that was ultimately picked by the Colorado Avalanche. He also mentioned that they could have traded down a few spots:

Nico Hischier played his first professional season in Switzerland, but then moved to North America to play with the Halifax Mooseheads, in the QMJHL. That's where he scored 38 goals and 86 points in only 57 games.

Patrick, an 18-year-old center as well, played his junior hockey in the Western Hockey League with the Brandon Wheat Kings. Even though he only played 33 games because of a sports hernia injury, he still amassed 46 points.
