In case you missed it, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Troy Stecher collided with Chicago Blackhawks defensemen Brandon Manning last night and left the game. Stecher looked shaken up on the play and head coach Travis Green confirmed that Stecher was undergoing concussion evaluation from the league’s medical staff.

Here’s the hit in question:

Troy Stecher collides awkwardly with Brandon Manning. Stecher went straight down the tunnel to the dressing room.

No word yet on the extent of Stecher’s injury or whether or not he’ll miss any time, but the team has recalled defensemen Jalen Chatfield from the AHL’s Utica Comets.

D Jalen Chatfield has been called up by the Canucks after Stecher injury last night. Chatfield on SN 650 this morning : "Just really excited, happy. It's my 1st callup."

If in fact Stecher does miss some time, he’ll join nearly one-third of the team on the injured reserve. Currently the Canucks are without the following players due to injury:

Brandon Sutter (shoulder)
Sven Baertschi (concussion)
Jay Beagle (fractured forearm)
Alex Edler (MCL sprain)
Anders Nilsson (fractured finger)
Chris Tanev (hip)

If the 22 year old Chatlfield does make it into the lineup, he’ll make his NHL debut. The right shooting blue liner has one assist in seven games with Utica so far this season after a seven point rookie campaign last season.
