The Vancouver Canucks have had their share of disappointments over the past few seasons, and their very knowledgeable fanbase has not hesitated to voice their displeasure. But it's one thing for fans to do it, it's another when one of your star players calls out fellow members of his locker room.

Canucks veteran forward Daniel Sedin ripped into his fellow players over the week-end, specifically calling out certain players for putting out what he calling an embarrassing effort.

“The only thing I worry about is effort,” said Sedin as per The Vancouver Sun. “And I think from some guys right now, the effort is not there. It’s not good enough. I think those guys know who they are. I think it’s embarrassing if you’re not giving the effort every night. Shift in and shift out, game in and game out, it has to be there otherwise it’s going to look like this."

Sedin went even further, suggesting that this is not a recent problem for the Canucks organization. According to Sedin this lack of effort from the unamed players is the cause of Vancouver's dissapointing season.

“I think it’s been an issue most nights. Early on, we won some games because we had enough guys battling. It’s about learning to win those one-on-one battles. We’re there right now, trying to battle. But we’re not winning them. That’s a big difference. You got to go in there demanding the puck. We have too many instances where that’s not the case. If you don’t get that most of the shifts, most of the nights, we’re going to lose 3-2 and 2-1 like we have this year. There’s a reason we’ve lost all those one-goal games.”
