Vancouver Canucks team president has paid tribute to a former Canucks great in a major way.

Earlier this year Trevor Linden and his family welcomed little baby Roman Mattias Linden into the world, and while many suspected there may have been a team connection in the name, it wasn't official.

In a recent interview with TSN 1040’s Matthew Sekeres Linden was asked about the name, and more specifically about whether or not there was indeed a connection, and Linden admitted there was.

“It’s a shoutout to my old roommate,” Linden confirmed during the interview.

That old roommate would be none other than legendary Vancouver Canucks defenseman Mattias Ohlund, who according to Linden was very excited about the honor.

Perhaps we will be seeing Roman Mattias Linden hitting the ice in a couple of decades, and one has to wonder if he will take after dad and play forward, or his namesake on the blue line.
