Canucks teammates tease Boeser, “Aren't you getting traded?”

When you’re mic’d up at practice you just KNOW the chips are comin’.

It was less than a week ago that Vancouver Canucks sniper Brock Boeser found himself at the middle of crazy trade rumours propagated by TSN 1040 host Matt Sekeres.

Remember this?

Matt Sekeres: I’m told the Canucks are exploring the possibility of trading Brock Boeser.
Yeah… about that… Canucks general manager Jim Benning came out to say that essentially the rumour is BS and he has no idea where it came from.

Check it out:

“I have no intention of trading Brock Boeser. I haven’t had one conversation about that, so I don’t know where this stuff comes from.” - Benning

Boeser himself also addressed the rumours and told the media that he and Benning discussed the false trade talk.

Check it out:

“I had a chat with Jim and he told me he hasn’t discussed trading me with anyone. I felt like that was very unnecessary by the media, especially the timing of it.” - Boeser

The Canucks aren’t gonna trade this kid… so story over, right?

Not a chance.

Leave it to hockey players to find something that irks their teammate and then use it to chirp him relentlessly. Case in point, Boeser’s teammates chirping him at practice yesterday when he was mic’d up.

Love it!

A team that saves its best chirps for each other is a tight team. Nobody hands out chirps to a teammate that can't handle it, so it's clear that Boeser has the love and respect of his teammates. Which, quite frankly, bodes well for the Canucks as they head into their first round "play in" series against the MInnesota Wild. The Canucks are a young team and for most of the team's players this will be their first taste of Stanley Cup Playoff action. Neither Boeser, Elias Pettersson nor Quinn Hughes have seen a minute of playoff hockey in the NHL. In fact, captain Bo Horvat is the only member of the team's young core to have seen any playoff action. Look for veterans like Alex Edler, Chris Tanev, Jay Beagle and the like to help guide these youngsters through the playoff grind.
