Canucks Travis Green destroys Mike MIlbury with an epic quote

Mic drop.

NHL on NBC analyst Mike Milbury is among the most divisive people in hockey and that's saying something because he hasn't been employed by an NHL team for over two decades now.

Prior to his broadcasting career, before he was paid handsomely to make ridiculous hot takes and criticize players for being injured, Milbury was employed by the New York Islanders to absolutely decimate their franchise. Well to be fair that's not what Milbury was hired for, but it's certainly what happened to the Isles under Milbury's leadership.

While Milbury's tenure in Long Island is usually remember by some of the awful trades he made (and believe me there were plenty of them), it's easy to forget that he was also the team's head coach in addition to being its general manager. Sure he traded away future Hall of Famers like Zdeno Chara and Roberto Luongo, but let's not forget that he coached the team to a dreadful .378 winning percentage over four seasons. Dreadful.

But, Milbury's coaching tenure with the Islanders wasn't all for nothing. It inspired, or rather reverse inspired, current Canucks head coach and then Islanders forward Travis Green. How, you might wonder? Well... Green went with the "Do the opposite of Milbury" strategy when he himself decided to head behind the bench.

Check out this hilarious quote from Green when asked about his coaching strategy earlier today:

Priceless. Absolutely priceless.

I look forward to Milbury whining and crying about Green and the Canucks next time they're on NBC. After all, the guy is a special kind of snowflake. Criticize him or disagree with his opinion and you'll get an earful about what an idiot you are. Thanks, Mike... but I'll take my analysis from someone who is either educated or has a track record of success. You're just a doofus who hit a guy with a shoe and then ruined the Islanders.

I think this about sums it up:

Whatever Green's strategy is though, it's working. The upstart Canucks are now up 3-2 on the opening Stanley Cup Playoff series against the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues with a chance to send them packing tomorrow evening in Game 6. Not bad. Not bad at all.
