Capitals bring back DSP

The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Devante Smith-Pelly from the AHL's Hershey Bears prior to the fifth game of the first round series against the Carolina Hurricanes.

A few days prior to the trade deadline, DSP was placed on waivers by Washington and went unclaimed. He was sent down to the Bears until today when the big club came back calling.

The veteran forward was a key player in the Capitals' championship last summer. In 54 games with Washington this season, Smith-Pelly tallied four goals and four assists. This is his second season with the Caps. He could suit up Saturday night as the Capirals will host the 'Canes in Game 5.

Meanwhile, goaltender Vitek Vanecek has been sent back to Hershey as a corresponding move.

DSP has been a fan favourite in the nation's capital and fans will be thrilled to have him back.
