Capitals now facing serious, self-inflicted trouble.

The Capitals made one of the biggest move in the UFA/RFA market today by resigning star forward Evgeny Kuznetsov to an 8 years, 62.4M$ a year contract.

What was initally a very happy moment for Caps fan could become problematic real fast. The cap space situation in Washington is getting trickier by the minute, and it's not pretty.

How can they field at least four forwards, one defenseman and one backup goalie with only 9.2M$ to spare? It amounts to 800,000$ a piece, which is hardly superstar salary territory.

Some rumors have Alex Ovechkin being moved in a near future, but this one seems a bit too fetched. A solution has to be found quickly, on the masterplan will fall apart. GM MacLellan has a lot of work cut out for him and he will need all the creativity in the world to make it happen.
