The Washington Capitals held their official team photo for the 2018-19 season, however, a key player was missing from the event on Tuesday.

The Capitals announced on that same day that defenseman Michal Kempny will be out four to six months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn left hamstring.

The poor defender suffered the injury during a March 20 game with the Tampa Bay Lightning.Things got out of hand in the second period when Cedric Paquette ran Michal Kempny hard from behind into the boards and the Capitals defenseman did not appreciate it.

Kempny retaliated with a punch to the face which made this fight escalate to a full blown line brawl. He did not return to the game and was seen leaving without putting any pressure on his left leg.

In 71 games this season, Kempny tallied six goals and added 19 assists. He was acquired during last year's deadline and became a key player in their championship run and has remained an important piece to the roster as they attempt to win back to back Stanley Cups.

And so as a key member of the team, the Capitals couldn't forget to include Kempny in the official team picture even though he was undergoing surgery at the time where the flash went off.

The Capitals had the perfect solution for it: they asked athletic trainer Mike Booi to wear Kempny's gear for the picture. Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post believes they will have to get Kempny's face super-imposed into the picture.

We don't know if Booi as once wanted to be a professional hockey player, but if he did, the dream came true for the time of one photograph.
