In case you missed it last night, Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara was forced to leave Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final after taking a puck to the face courtesy of St. Louis Blues forward Brayden Schenn.

Chara attempted to block a shot and had it ride right up his stick and... well into his face.

Here’s the play in question:

Ouch.

Chara would leave for the Bruins’ locker room right away, but would return for the third period sporting a full face guard. Good news, right? Well… sort of… Chara wouldn’t take the ice for the entirety of the third period. He essentially just provided moral support, even if he couldn’t talk…

Post game, Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy updated the media on Chara’s health and his status for Thursday evening’s Game 5 and… well it doesn’t look good.

Check it out:

If in fact the Bruins lose Chara they’ll be down him and blue liner Matt Grzelcyk for a pivotal Game 5. Double ouch.
