Cassidy with a big update on the Bruins line up tonight.

Just off the top of my head it feels like the Boston Bruins have had by far the most banged up blue line of the 2018 - 2019 National Hockey League regular season thus far. Since seemingly the very start of the season the Bruins have been hit by injury after injury to their defensive corps and you have to wonder how much better the team would have looked thus far if they hadn't been so hampered by those very same injuries.

Although there remain some very significant members of the Bruins roster on the sidelines at this time on Saturday the Bruins got some very good news via head coach Bruce Cassidy. Cassidy informed the media after a morning skate that two members of the Bruins roster would be in the line up this evening and in both cases you could almost hear the palpable sigh of relief from the Bruins fan base in regards to the news.

The first, and arguably the biggest news of the day is the return of talented young defenseman Brandon Carlo to the line up. Carlo has been out of that line up since early in November when an injury to his shoulder sidelined him, and although initially it seemed like Carlo would only be out a short time that injury has dragged out now into the month of December. The good news is that, as expected, Carlo will return this evening when the Bruins take on the Detroit Red Wings at TD Gardens in Boston.

The other news is not quite as good but that's only because veteran forward David Krejci has not been missing for the better part of the last month. Krejci was injured earlier this week when a big hit from former teammate Johnny Boychuk laid him out and took one of his teeth with him in the process. Boychuk did not appear to want to injure Krejci and in a show of sportsmanship and camaraderie he actually picked up Krejci's missing tooth off the ice and brought it back to him on the Bruins bench, a pretty class move from the former Bruin. Krejci had been shaken up on the play and there was some concern he could miss time moving forward, but Cassidy  appears to have given him the green light for tonight along with Carlo barring any last minute decisions before puck drop.
