It only seems fitting that the NHL’s longest standing rivalry will play host to legendary CBC broadcaster Bob Cole’s final Hockey Night in Canada broadcast.

The 85 year old longtime voice of HNIC will call his final game on Saturday, April 6th when the Montreal Canadiens take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena in downtown Toronto for the teams’ final game of the 2018-19 regular season.

Originally scheduled to call 10 games during the first part of the 2018-19 season, Cole will now do an extra six broadcasts stretching to the end of the season. The schedule for his eight remaining games is as follows:

Saturday, Dec. 15: Senators vs. Canadiens
Saturday, Dec. 22: Rangers vs. Maple Leafs
Saturday, Jan. 5: Predators vs. Canadiens
Wednesday, Feb. 6: Senators vs. Maple Leafs
Saturday, Mar. 9: Senators vs. Bruins
Saturday, Mar. 16: Blackhawks vs. Canadiens
Saturday, Mar. 30: Canadiens vs. Jets
Saturday, Apr. 6: Maple Leafs vs. Canadiens

“When I began calling NHL games in 1969, I never dreamt I would still be doing it 50 years later,” Cole said. “I feel very fortunate to still be able to do the job I love and I truly appreciate the kindness shown to me from teams and players across the league during this final season with Hockey Night in Canada.”

“Every game I have called over my career has been a dream come true. I am grateful for the privilege of bringing the game to the fans all these years and I will continue to put everything I have into it until my final game. I just want hockey fans to be able to enjoy the game as much as I do,” Cole added.

For those poor souls who haven’t had to privilege of growing up watching HNIC, Cole’s voice is legendary. The man in tied to some of the biggest moments in history.
