Dallas Stars defenseman Roman Polak was stretchered off the ice in the second period of Thursday night’s contest versus the Boston Bruins after going headfirst into the boards and everyone in the rink was worried sick.

The Stars later confirmed that the blue liner had been taken to the hospital and was undergoing tests.

Polak was chasing Bruins forward Chris Wagner into the corner and simply took an awkward fall into the boards while attempting to stop. After the crash, he didn’t move…

As the trainers placed him on the stretcher, Bruins captain Zdeno Chara skated over to Polak and gave him an encouraging pat on the shoulder before he was taken off the ice.

He appeared to say a few kind words to the defenseman.

This is just so heartwarming to see. Players know how scary the game can be and support one another in tough times.

You have to love the class here!
