When Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara hits the ice at TD Garden for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday evening, he’ll skate himself right into the record books. The battle tested veteran will surpass Hall of Famers Scott Stevens and Patrick Roy as the player to play in the most Game 7s in NHL history. Stevens, Roy and Chara are all deadlocked at an incredible 13 Game 7s each, with Chara set to make it 14 on Wednesday evening.

Chara made history on Sunday evening when his empty net tally made him the oldest defenseman the score a goal in the Stanley Cup Final in NHL history. The 42 year old blue liner has shown incredible toughness and character this post season. He reportedly broke his jaw in Game 4, but returned for Game 5 and Game 6 without missing a beat.
