Clayton Keller has only played three games with the Arizona Coyotes, but hockey fans are already itching to see what he can do in a full NHL campaign.

The 5’ 10", 170 pound Keller was selected seventh overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and is part of a growing group of smaller, highly skilled forwards who are finding their place in the NHL.

The youngster has quite the hockey resume to his name. He joined the United States National Team Development Program in 2014, recording 98 goals and 263 points in 178 games with the team. Keller also represented Team USA at World Juniors, twice with the U18s and once with U20s, winning two golds and a bronze. He also had the opportunity to play in the IIHF Men’s World Cup this past summer, where he scored a hat trick against Denmark. The 19-year-old is coming off a successful 2016-17 season with Boston University, where he racked up 45 points (21 G) in 31 games.

Keller is a strong, shifty skater with a powerful shot, who possesses tremendous hockey intelligence that is sure to make him a fan favorite in Arizona.

The Coyotes were 30-42-10 last season, finishing sixth in the Pacific Division and missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the fifth consecutive season. If the rookie sticks with the big club this season, the Coyotes might get back into the postseason hunt quicker than you may think.
