Clear favorite emerging to be the next head coach of the Vancouver Canucks.

There appears to be a clear favorite emerging for the open vacancy behind the Vancouver Canucks bench, and perhaps surprisingly it's a coach with very little National Hockey League experience.

TSN insider Darren Dreger was a guest on Vancouver's 1040 radio this week when he plainly stated that there was one man believed to be well ahead of the pack.

"For me it's Travis Green."

"The people that I talk to believe that Travis Greene is more than ready to be an NHL head coach no question about that."

If you're unfamiliar with Green, he has been the head coach of the American Hockey League's Utica Comets, the Canucks affiliate, for some time now and there was some indication from Dreger that he could be ready to make a jump to the NHL even if it's not with the Canucks.

"There's a greater assumption that if it's not in Vancouver that potentially it's gonna be somewhere else."

With these factors in mind Dreger believes Green is man for the job.

"I'd be surprised if Green doesn't get the opportunity to be the next hesad coach of the Vancouver Canucks."
