Coach Boudreau rips his own team apart after humiliating loss to the Oilers

Brutal!

At this point in the season, it seems like if you're losing to the Edmonton Oilers, you're doing something incredibly wrong...

Anyway, that's what Minnesota Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau thinks... The Oilers refused to surrender a two-goal lead going to the third period in a 4-1 win over the Wild and Boudreau wasn't happy with his team after the loss.

Yeah. That's an understatement...

The Wild dropped its fourth consecutive loss last night since the All-Star break and Boudreau went after his own players when talking to the reporters after the game, arguing that many of them look like a shell of the player he’s gotten to know over the past two and a half years.

"There’s some guys there that just are a shell of the players that I’ve known for two and a half years.”

Unfortunately for the Wild players, it isn't the first time this year Boudreau takes a run at them. Back in January, after a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Detroit Red Wings, he directly called out franchise players Eric Staal and Mikael Granlund, insulting other players at the same time in another explosive rant during his post-game press conference.

"If your best players aren't your best players, you're not going to win a game. It's as simple as that. When I looked down and Ek's line is the best line that we have out there, then we're in trouble."

Boudreau sure knows where to hit so it hurts.

However, we can't say if Boudreau's comments hurt as much as the other blow the Wild suffered earlier this week. It was confirmed that star forward and captain Mikko Koivu will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee. He is expected to have surgery to repair his knee today.

We wonder if the Wild will be able to get up from this major blow.

However, Boudreau should stop hitting his own team if he wants his players to get back up and continue fighting for playoff contention. Minnesota is currently holding up to the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference with 57 points. The St. Louis and Vancouver Canucks are simply two points away and will keep pushing for a place in the postseason.

Boudreau might want to encourage his players to do better instead of pushing them down...
