Coach McLellan addressed the media on Wednesday and eluded some details in regards to the Edmonton Oilers upcoming season.

When questioned on Connor McDavid's role with the team, McLellan made it clear that the young Oilers captain was truly one of a kind

"I don't see direct comparisons, I see him taking pieces from different individuals I've been around. He's Connor McDavid, not Thornton, Lidstrom [...] he does such a good job, I don't think he needs to be compared to anyone."

But McDavid is also a catch-22, with his extraordinary performances, the expectations in regards to the Oilers' upcoming season are increasingly high.

A fact that McLellan is well aware.

"Expectation is a word will be hearing a lot of heading into training camp, during training camp. Expectations make it a little harder on a hockey club: mentally, physically. That's why I still consider our team a growth team."

Despite these factors, the Oilers' coach remains confident that the team will have a good season, especially considering that the majority of his blue line will be returning players that are well aware of the system in place.
