Head coach Claude Julien had some nice thing to say about Quebec City. He believes that the city is deserving of a hockey club.

He played 14 games as a defenseman after being drafted by the Quebec Nordiques back in the 1980s.

The original Quebec Nordiques moved in 1995, becoming the Colorado Avalanche. The city of Quebec has been without a team since.

Recently, Las Vegas won a bid against Quebec City to have its own NHL club. This means it’ll be a while before the Nordiques resurface, unless a team moves there (like the Atlanta Thrashers who became the Winnipeg Jets).

When asked what he thought about this city having its own club, coach Julien said that Quebec CityI “would love to have an [NHL] team there, and deserves to have an [NHL] team there. It would certainly be a good addition to the league, so hopefully that happens for them someday.”
