It is a hit we've all seen many times before and someone should probably have taken the time to warn Colin Wilson. On Sunday night Wilson and the Colorado Avalanche were facing off against the Detroit Red Wings and the the 29 year old center found himself in a position that so many have found themselves in when facing off again the Red Wings, in the sights of veteran defenseman Niklas Kronwall

The Avalanche were working to get the puck out of their own zone and it was after a failed clearing attempt that Wilson found himself with the puck. Wilson scooped it up but kept his head down while doing so for a split second, but that was all it took. 37 year old Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall pounced on the opportunity to deliver his trademark body check along the boards and leveled Wilson with a hard hit that had him trying to shake out the cobwebs.

It is surprising that players continue to leave themselves in vulnerable positions on that part of the ice when facing off against the Red Wings when you consider how notorious Kronwall is for delivering his trademark "Kronwalled" hits specifically in that area. It is even more stunning when you consider the fact that Wilson has been playing in the league for over a decade now and has likely witnessed some of those highlight reel moments himself.

He definitely got Kronwalled.
