Confirmed: Leafs' Woll to start for USA

Team USA head coach Bob Motzko confirmed this morning that Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Joseph Woll will play today’s semi-final game against Sweden at the World Junior Championships.

Woll has split the tournament with compatriot Jake Oettinger thus far, with both goaltenders looking good. Nevertheless it’s the 19-year-old Woll who USA will turn to if it hopes to repeat as gold medalists this year.

The winner of today’s 4pm game will go on to play for gold tomorrow against the winner of tonight’s 7:30pm game between Canada and the Czech Republic. Good luck, Joseph! We’d love to see you in the gold medal game, just so long as you don’t bring your “A” game against Canada!
