Confusing situation for this high-end prospect!

The Vancouver Canucks are where everybody thought they would at this moment of the season, bottom half of the standing. Even if it's too soon to talk about a race for Nolan Patrick, we're forced to admit the Canucks aren't going anywhere near a playoff spot. Their defense is shaky at best and they just lost Alex Edler, who averaged the most minutes for the Canucks. Offensively, the Sedins are getting older and so is Loui Eriksson.

Without waving the white flag, wouldn't it be a good idea to give quality minutes to their prospects?

Jake Virtanen is going back and forth from Vanouver to Utica almost every week. Asked about the situation, here's what Virtanen had to say :

"I wasn’t going to say much, but yeah, I didn’t play for a little bit there: two games on the road trip (against the Islanders and Rangers). Get sent down, play two games and then back to Vancouver, didn’t play and then sent back (to Utica)." He went on: "It’s just business and that’s just how things are going to work. I dunno exactly what (the plan is) they didn’t really communicate with me as much."

When you're drafting a kid with the 6th selection overall, the next face of your franchise, you're supposed to have a plan for his development. You're also supposed to tell him what's the plan, that could help.
