Confusion over Malgin and his trade to the Leafs

In case you missed it yesterday, the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forward Denis Malgin from the Florida Panthers in exchange for AHLer Mason Marchment.

The 23 year old Malgin has four goals and 12 points in 36 games for the Panthers so far this season and reportedly requested a trade from Panthers GM Dale Tallon. This courtesy of TSN hockey insider Pierre LeBrun.

Or did he? LeBrun’s counterpart over at Sportsnet, Chris Johnston, reports that Malgin did NOT request a trade out of Florida.

Alright then.. that’s that then? Not so fast.

LeBrun again:

So he asked for a trade, but denies it… but he did. Is this pretty much the gist of it, guys? Anyone else confused by all this?
