According to a report from Ottawa Senators insider Bruce Garrioch of The Ottawa Sun, Sens forward Connor Brown has gone into his salary arbitration with the team and has set his asking price at a whopping $4.8 million per season. The Sens, meanwhile, have countered back at just $2.25 million.

Check it out:

It's worth noting that whatever the arbitrator decides in Brown's case, it'll be on a one year contract.

The 26 year old forward put up 16 goals and 43 points in 71 games this past season, his first with the Senators after an offseason trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2019. It seems unlikely that Brown gets his full asking price in arbitration, but a one year deal in the $3 million range absolutely seems possible. A $4.8 million salary would make him the Senators' third highest player behind Thomas Chabot ($8 million) and the recently signed Evgeni Dadonov ($5 million) The harsh truth of things for the Sens is that they don't have a lot of scoring depth in their lineup and Brown is a reliable 2nd/3rd liner who can chip in offensively on a good line. After all, Brown was able to put up 20 goals while playing alongside Leafs superstar Auston Matthews in his rookie season.
