Nothing seems to be going well for the New Jersey Devils this season and another blow was handed to them this week.

While Will Butcher was back in the lineup for Wednesday’s 7-6 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Devils will have to do without defenseman Connor Carrick for four to six weeks with a broken finger.

However on Wednesday night, Carrick’s wife shared some more information about her husband’s injury and the crap is scary. She revealed that his pinky finger was “shattered” and the doctor told them if he wasn’t an athlete they would have amputated that part of it.

Good thing the medical staff worked hard at keeping his finger intact: who knows it could have affected his play.

Carrick, who was traded to the Devils from the Dallas Stars at the trade deadline last year, appeared in 20 games to finish the 2018-19 season. So far in 2019-20 campaign in eight games, he took part in four of them, serving as a healthy scratch in the other four. He collected just one assist.

Let’s hope he gets better soon: after all, he is a lucky man and probably hopes his luck will continue.
