Connor McDavid gives shocking answer about potentially playing for Canada next Olympics

When it was reported that Olympic participation is included in the National Hockey League and Players’ Association modified Collective Bargaining Agreement, it did not take long for many sports media to put together a projection of the Canadian roster. 

While the projection might have been slightly different from one insider to another, it was clear that Edmonton Oilers captain and star player Connor McDavid would clinch a spot on the top line. 

McDavid hasn’t had the chance - yet - to represent his home country at the Winter Games : NHL players have not been able to go to the Olympics since he entered the league.

However, things will be different for 2022 and 2026 and it seems obvious that McDavid will be a key part of the Canadian roster. 

Obvious? Well, for everyone but McDavid it seems! When asked about the possibility of representing Canada at the upcoming Winter Games, McDavid stunned everyone by answer this: 

“This is something that’s obviously important to me, just the chance to be able to chase down a roster spot for Team Canada, even to have that opportunity is exciting.”

Are you serious, kid? “Chase down a roster spot.”

While his answer is extremely humble for one of the NHL’s top players, we would be shocked if he does not wear Canada’s uniform in 2022. I mean, come on, McDavid basically has a spot on Canada’s top line locked up already, so he won’t be chasing down any spot on the roster. 

Stop being so humble, McDavid, you will be on that roster, you have to!
