This just in, Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 23 year old superstar tested positive earlier today and as the Oilers' press release states McDavid has begun a 14 day quarantine. McDavid is only the second NHLer to be identified as being COVID-19 positive, along with Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews. While other NHLers have indeed tested positive, only McDavid and Matthews have been identified. In Matthews' case though, he was outed by Toronto Sun reporter Steve Simmons. In McDavid's case the Oilers have made the announcement themselves.

We can only assume that McDavid will make a full recovery as he is a young, healthy individual. Matthews was reportedly asymptomatic during his bout with COVID-19 and made a full recovery without missing any time from the Leafs' training camp (Phase 2) or their first round play-in series against the Columbus Blue Jackets. We don't know specifics in McDavid's case and it's unlikely we'll get specifics, but here's hoping that he makes a full recovery at home in Toronto.
