Don Cherry might once again anger some National Hockey League star players...

The NHL players have expressed their frustration over the league’s decision not participate in the 2018 Olympics, but Cherry is more than happy about it.

The controversial commentator and former NHL coach mentioned on Sportsnet how impractical it would be for players, coaches and fans to go to Pyeongchang to take part in the Olympics.

“The games are going to be at 3 o’clock in the morning,” Grapes said. “Who the hell’s going to watch hockey at 3 o’clock in the morning? Maybe the final game and that. I’m glad we’re not going. And I’m glad I’m not going because I don’t enjoy them at all.

“Who wants to go to North Korea or South Korea or wherever the hell it is?”

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has been very vocal about his desire to represent Russia and simply head to the Olympics anyway. Cherry made fun of Ovi's success at the Olympics and added that the Russian forward's comments were "empty threats."

“Alex Ovechkin, the way he’s leading in international hockey, I don’t think they (Russia) want him to go, to tell you the truth,” Cherry said. “He doesn’t do much at the Olympics."
