Controversy in Game 4 after NHL officials miss a blatant call.

The Golden Knights were not pleased with this one.

The National Hockey League's officiating crew for Game 4 of the Western Conference Final have already made a major blunder and the first period has not even reached its conclusion.

With just under 6 minutes left to go in the first period and with the Stars already on the penalty kill, Stars forward Joe Pavelski sent the puck sailing over the glass from inside his own zone. Normally this would have been an automatic penalty but for some reason the officials on the ice let the Stars off the hook. This could have been a moment or may even be a moment that is a major turning point in this game and in this series given that the Golden Knights would have had a 2 man advantage off the back of that penalty.

Veteran NHL analyst Pierre McGuire was on the broadcast for this one and according to his commentary during this entire sequence it was linesman Jonny Murray that was adamant that there had been contact on the play and it was for that reason that a penalty was not called. Officiating in the sport of hockey at this level is an incredibly difficult job but I can't understand why Murray would have been so confident that he saw something, given that the replay did not appear to show any contact except from Pavelski.

As you can expect fans in Vegas were not very happy about the call, understandable given their recent history with Joe Pavelski and controversial calls in the playoffs.
