Corey Crawford finally breaks silence, talks about retirement

Life just hasn’t been the same for the Chicago Blackhawks since Corey Crawford went down with injury last season. The Blackhawks missed the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade last season and when Crawford went down with a concussion again this season… well it’s no surprise that the team started to go off the rails once again.

Crawford was placed on the IR again back in December after suffering from post-concussion syndrome. Meanwhile, the Blackhawks have been getting by with a tandem of Collin Delia and Cam Ward, with no timetable for Crawford’s return.

"I feel great," Crawford said after practicing earlier this week. "Back to normal. It's nice to get on the ice and practice with everyone. I'm feeling good, so that's the most important thing right now." Still, there's no timeline set in stone yet for his return, but Crawford hopes to be back as soon as possible.

Yesterday Crawford commented on a potential return when the dreaded “R” word was mentioned… retirement.

Whew… to be honest, that’s been a real concern for Blackhawks fans lately. At 34 years old and with multiple Stanley Cups under his belt NO ONE would begrudge Crawford for walking away from the game to focus on his health. Here’s hoping that either way he can put this all behind him.
