It's Wednesday Rivalry in the NHL and the game between the Ottawa Senators and the San Jose Sharks lived up to the challenge in an unsuspected way. After an incident where Marc-Edouard Vlasic took a few hacks at Erik Karlsson, Kyle Turris came off the bench to jump on the Sharks' defenseman who refused to drop the gloves with the Sens' forward.

Mike Hoffman decided to avenge his team in another manner. He viciously cross-checked Logan Couture with a nasty blow to the head. The Shark's forward immediatly fell on the ice and was escorted off the ice for further evaluation. Hoffman was thrown out of the game and according to Bruce Garrioch, one could expect Hoffman to hear from the NHL Department of Player Safety.
