The Florida Panthers always seem to be making headlines when no one shows up to the games, and fans often linked the Arizona Coyotes to the same fate, adding that the organization could soon relocate to Houston.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta had met with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman about the potential of bringing the NHL to Houston. According to the Sports director at Fox 26 Mark Berman, Fertitta has had preliminary talks about buying and relocating the Coyotes to Houston.

While neither party is close to a decision, we all know Fertitta has the money and power to convince Bettman this is the best way to go moving forward.

Following the announcement of the Seattle’s go -ahead in the expansion process, it did not take long for fans to remind the Coyotes that the team would move division to accommodate the arrival of the 32nd team. Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston mentioned that the new expansion team would logically be placed in the Pacific Division, meaning that the Coyotes would likely be moved into the Central Division as a result. A perfect geographic fit if they get relocated to Houston no?

Not so fast.

Hockey DB has revealed that the Coyotes are are drawing bigger crowds this season than ever before in franchise history. Despite another rocky start to the season, the team has been able to reach its fan base and get them to come to games and buy tickets.

This sure seems like a powerful way of shutting foes all the relocation rumours.

It may not be snowing in the desert for Christmas, but it sure sounds like this would be a miracle for the Coyotes.
