The Arizona Coyotes may be staying in Arizona, but it sounds almost certain at this point that they will not remain in the city of Glendale.

According to a report from Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports, both National Hockey League commissioner Gary Bettman as well as Arizona Coyotes president Anthony Leblanc, met with several stakeholders, as well as representatives from the city of Phoenix and Arizona State University, recently to discuss the possibility of a new arena in the Phoenix area.

Whatever the Coyotes end up doing it sounds like we will know soon, Leblanc has stated that he expects to make an announcement within the next six weeks in the hopes that the future of the franchise will be clear come free agency and the draft. As for the possibility of remaining in Glendale? According to Leblanc it sounds like that relationship may be beyond repair.

“I will never say never, but it’s highly, highly unlikely.”

The Coyotes coudl very well be playing out their final games in the Gila River Arena.
