Crosby fires back after backing down from Ovechkin fight

In case you missed it, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin very nearly came to blows last night following a very one sided fight last night between Jamie Oleksiak and Tom Wilson.

Wilson pummelled Oleksiak just a minute into the game and well… all Hell broke loose in Washington, D.C. Crosby started jawing at Ovechkin between the benches, Ovechkin challenged Crosby to a fight and Crosby declined. In the end Sid found the back of the net and the Penguins ended up with a 2-1 victory.

Unsurprisingly, Crosby took a lot of heat from Capitals fans for declining Ovechkin’s invitation to fight, but the Penguins superstar fired back today essentially saying that it’s not his job.

Suffice it to say, it looks like it’s a bit of a sore subject for Sid. Again, he ended up with the last laugh though and it was Ovechkin who was doubly made after suffering the loss and having his career high 14 game point streak snapped.
