As the NHL’s Stanley Cup playoffs continue to roll on, the nominees for this summer’s annual NHL Awards also continue to trickle in. Up for this year’s Ted Lindsay Award for the league’s most outstanding player in the regular season as judged by the members of the NHL Players Association: Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid and Brent Burns.

Amongst the group only Crosby has been nominated for the award before, winning it three times previously. Both Crosby and McDavid were also named nominees for the Hart Memorial Trophy, which recognizes the NHL’s regular season MVP, along with Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.

While most reports seem to give McDavid the edge over Crosby in Hart Trophy voting, the Ted Lindsay Award can be a little more difficult to predict. The award is voted on by the NHLPA members, who likely use a different set of criteria when determining their choice for the league’s most valuable player.

One thing’s for sure, each player put forward a tremendous campaign in 2016-17 and is 100% deserving of the nomination.
